I feel like “Drops of Jupiter” is about a girl who goes off to find herself, experience new things, learn about her and others, and meets new people, missing someone along the way enough that she’ll eventually come back once she’s really found herself.

It’s an upbeat song because the subject of it is hopeful. He’s not just sitting or waiting or wishing, he’s expecting.
